Mission

Serving Others

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' - Matthew 25

...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:43-45

Note:  When dropping items in the Mission Mangers, please clearly mark what organization they're to be given to.  Currently, the two Mission Mangers on either side of the Sanctuary (one on the Admin Wing and one on the Education Wing) are earmarked for the Men's Uptown Shelter and Crisis Assistance Ministries.
Thank you!

The Uptown Men’s Shelter is the only year round men’s shelter in Charlotte.  Its mission is to care for people who are homeless and provide them with opportunities to rebuild their lives.  The shelter can house just over 200 men.  The residents are screened prior to admission.  Some of them qualify for the transitional program and are given training in such daily life skills as food preparation and paying bills, and job training to prepare them for a life off the streets.  The goal of the transitional program is to channel the residents into permanent housing and permanent employment.  Some require medical, dental, or psychological intervention.  These services are provided on site at the shelter or arrangements are made for the residents to receive them in the community.  As you can see, the shelter provides not only a bed, but also a variety of services.
  • Peter Rieke's Mission Trips
