Rev. Dr. Augustus E. Succop III - Pastor

“Gus” was called to serve with
the Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church in 1993. His first Sunday was Easter,
April 11. Having been born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, he attended Shady Side
Academy, earned his A.B. in English Literature from Davidson College, and his
M. Div. from Yale University Divinity School. On February 22, 1981, Gus was
ordained and installed as the pastor of the Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian
Church, Darlington, Maryland (Baltimore Presbytery). In May 2000, Gus
received his doctorate from Columbia Theological Seminary, and was the
recipient of the Sally & George Telford Prize, given to the outstanding
graduate in the Doctor of Ministry program. A copy of his thesis,
Almighty Friendship: The Intercultural
Mission and Witness of the Church in a Postmodern World, is
available upon request.
Gus and Beth were married on
January 24, 1981. Beth is also from Pittsburgh, and is a graduate of Bucknell
University with a B.A. in Political Science. They have two children, a son,
Charles H. E. Succop II, and a daughter, Anna Taylor Succop.

Rev. Betsy
Williamson - Associate Pastor
Betsy joined our church staff as Associate Pastor for Family
Life in August 2004. Betsy is a Charlotte native. She was one of the first
babies baptized at her home church, Westminster Presbyterian. She is a
graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, class of 1971. She earned her B.S.
(1975) and M.A. (1981) degrees in Secondary Education and Spanish from
Appalachian State University. She earned an Educational Specialist degree in
Curriculum and Instruction from Appalachian in 1983. From 1975 until her
retirement in June 2004, Betsy was a public school educator in the Durham
County, Union County and Charlotte-Mecklenburg school districts. She is a
member of the board of Kids Voting North Carolina and is a national education
consultant for Kids Voting USA.
Betsy was awarded her Masters of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary – Charlotte in May of 2000. She served the Presbytery of
Charlotte as a supply preacher from June 2000 to June 2004. She was ordained
to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament on October 17, 2004.

Matt Wiggins - Youth Director
Matt comes to us from Canton, Ohio, and
is the newest member on our team. Matt is a graduate of Ohio State
University where he majored in English with a minor in Film Studies.
He served as a youth director at his home church, John Knox Presbyterian
Church. A newcimages\Terri2.JPGomer to Charlotte, Matt is able to put his gifts and
talents to use in service to the Lord as he works with Quail Hollow's youth.

Ruth joined the church office staff in September 2001. Ruths ministry includes preparing the Sunday
bulletins and bookkeeping.

Nancy Lucas - Organist
Nancy Lucas joined the staff as the church organist on World Communion
Sunday (October 4) 1998. She came to Quail Hollow from being the organist at
Sharon United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC.
Don Rogers (QHPC's Choirmaster) and Nancy have known each other through the local
American Guild of Organists.
Nancy holds degrees in Piano Performance (M.M., Converse
College; B.A. Limestone College) and a degree in Economics and Mathematics (B.A.,
UNCG). Nancy also serves as a piano teacher at
Queens College.
She was married to John Lucas, a Baptist pastor, and
they have a son, who is a United Church of Christ pastor serving south of
Chicago, IL. Nancy is also a trained
Stephen Minister, having received her training at Sharon UMC.

Susan
Shields - Preschool Director

Susan is a 2000 graduate of Meredith College, where she received her degree
in Child Development. She has also received further Early Childhood
Administration credentials, Level III, from CPCC. Susan began her teaching
career with an internship at
Head Start.
After graduation from Meredith College, Susan served for two years as a
Short Term International (STINT) Missionary with
Campus Crusade for
Christ
in Kosice, Slovakia.
Susan began her ministry here in July 2006 serving as Director and is
responsible for the entire Preschool program.

John
Barger - Sexton
John comes to us from Michigan
originally where he received his B.A. from Spring Arbor College. He is
the father of two children, a son and a daughter, and his wife is from Costa
Rica. John comes to us with a great amount of experience cleaning the
Southminster Retirement Center and we are happy to have him here with us at
Quail Hollow. John has worked in the Charlotte area since 1990 and
resides in Fort Mill with his family.
